Ambassador Tony Hall and several other anti-hunger leaders began a fast in response to Congresss proposed cuts to programs that support vulnerable, low-income people.
Nutrition programs like the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), WIC and SNAP are a lifeline to the millions of Americans who dont always know where their next meal will come from. These and other safety-net programs lift millions of families out of poverty. The proposed cuts would pull the rug out from under them at a time when our economy continues to deal with high unemployment and rising food and gas prices
Congress must make some difficult decisions to reduce our nations budget deficit. However, we must not balance the budget on the backs of our most vulnerable. -FeedingAmerica.org
