Be True To Yourself
March 14th, 2008
I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence- Frederick Douglass
What are you do regularly that you know you shouldn’t? Are you eating foods you shouldn’t because you don’t want to seem anti-social? Are you being silent about something you know you need to address? What can you let go, so that you can be true to you? When are you going to make a change for the better?
Life gets better when you do. What are you waiting for?
If you are really ready to let something go today, please share it in a comment below. State what you are going to do to be true to yourself, and then do it.
Your dream is waiting for you; what are you waiting for?

This year I made the commitment to transform my health and fitness for the better. I have had to tell others that there are times when I will not be eating out, and when I do, I always do it on my terms.
At home I often make my own individual meals, because I am not trying to impose my decision upon anyone else. Improving my health and fitness is one of the gifts I am finally giving to myself.
What are you going to do?

I have made a commitment to do yoga and meditate every day, but I have the hardest time following through with it. I waste so much time surfing the web, when I should be doing what makes me feel so much better. I have to figure out why I sabotage myself by spending so much time on the internet, when I could be contributing to making my life better. I have made a promise to myself that I will start the day with yoga and meditation before I even turn on the computer.

Hi Right Brained Gal,
Thank you for participating.
What I would say to you is that you have decided to do something, but commitment is proven through action. Right now you are romancing the idea, and what you need to do is start dating it. For one thing don’t connect the two necessarily, because a day where you get one done is better than not getting either done.
I assume that perfection in execution is not why you decided to add these two practices to your life. You need to reconnect on a daily basis to the reasons why you think yoga and meditation will add value to your life.
When you connect to the excitement and enthusiasm within your heart, you will act and get the benefits and enjoyment that come from the two practices.
If you are not connected to the value that the two offer, you will continue to find it hard to be committed, because they will always seem like two more things to do in a day that is already full of activity.
Just something to think about.
I look forward to hearing from you more in the future.
Be well,
Mario
