A Lesson In Simplicity
Bad feels bad
Most people want to feel good, but spend most of their time bemoaning that which is bad within their life. When was the last time that complaining filled your heart with a sense of joy? When was the last time that complaining about a problem made it go away? For the average person the answer to both questions is never (for those who actually could identify an instant, then this article may not be for you, and I wish you all of the best in your journey of miracles).
For those who have not left, I ask you, “Why do you continue to do that which bears no fruit?” In life we all have an unknown amount of moments and energy to accomplish that which we will do this phase of our existence. So ask yourself, “Am I going to keep doing what I have been, and keep getting the same results, or am I going to try a different way?.”
If something you do, think, feel, or have feels bad, and complaining about it doing it does nothing to resolve your challenge or issue related to it, then stop complaining about it. If you have the ability to change or improve the situation, then do something about it; but if you cannot change it or improve it, then improve nature of your existence by improving the quality of your focus.
To Feel Good: Act Good, Speak Good, and Think Good
Talking, speaking, and participating in that which you enjoy, feels good. It is like an instant injection of vitamin “JOY”. When you feel bad, increase the level of good within your life, and even the situation or circumstance does not immediately change, you will still feel better in the interim.
If you are unhappy or dissatisfied with your life, some of the best questions to ask yourself irrespective of your current perceived condition, station, or situation, are:
“When was the last time I did something that I really enjoyed? When was the last time I laughed? When was the last time I did something for someone else, and felt joy just from committing the action? What could I do in this moment that would make me laugh, cry, or smile out of pure joy?”
A person who cannot answer all of these questions easily and have those answers be from a current memory (if you have to go back a week, that is too long ago) needs to up the level joy within their life, by looking within and finding more opportunities to feel greater love and goodness within his/her life. You need to schedule joy as a daily part of your life, no matter how busy, broke, or broken you think you are (and just so you know, all of these are fundamentally untrue states of mind).
Think and You Shall Receive
As long as you think your life is miserable, then it will be. Your thoughts and feelings are with you everywhere you go, and influence everything you do and perceive, so until you learn to raise the level of your joy within your life, you will continue to be drawn to evidence that supports your limited perspective of the world. The human brain is the greatest computer ever created on the planet, and if you task it with the job of finding all that is wrong with you, your job, the world, and everyone and everything around you, it will do an exceptional job of providing you with all of the evidence you could ever want. However, the converse is also true; if you devote your mind to the pursuit of identifying opportunities for love, growth, and appreciation, your mind will work unfailingly to provide you all the evidence you could ever want.
So I guess we are back to the point of simplicity…Do you want to feel good, or do you want to feel bad? If you want to feel bad, talk and complain about what is bad, and spend your life cataloging all that is lacking within life and within yourself.
